Earlier this week Google rolled out tab user interface for knowledge panels in most verticals. Only hotels still don’t have the tab UI, but this might change really soon as Google is testing new hotel listing UI with 3 tabs – Overview (has everything we currently see in hotels’ KPs); Rates (shows only nightly rate ads); and Reviews (which, you guessed it, has reviews):
Here is what the test looks like in action:
Last month, after the 2-tab test was first spotted, Ben Fisher (GMB Top Contributor), Mike Blumenthal (simply, the best Local SEO I know), and I, speculated that tabs are a very friendly way of showing more information and Google might start using them more. And I’d say that’s what we are seeing – more and more instances where Google is trying to keep users on its properties, by showing a lot of info and yet, not giving too much of the valuable SERP space to the new features (think about the new hotel reviews UI, for example).
