Google first launch Reserve With Google in 2016 in the U.S. for the wellness and fitness vertical and has been expanding the program both internationally (for example, RWG’s Canadian rolled out happened in 2018), and into new industries (the 2018 ticket reservation expansion comes to mind). It’s been pretty obvious that Google wants to capture as many bookable services as possible with the program, and thus it’s not surprising to see reservation CTAs for schools and private classes:
Interestingly, coursehorse powering these class bookings is not listed among Google’s RWG partners:
Mike Blumenthal did a great analysis of Google’s API documentation for reservations. The documentation gives us a better understanding of bookable services that are supported by Google’s API:
- Appointments
- Reservations
- Classes
- Activities
- Basic ticketing
- General admission day tours
- Consults and evaluations
- Signups and trials
As you can see, classes have already made its way into the program. I’m sure more services and industries to follow, or perhaps they are already supported but we have not noticed them yet.
